Cornelius “Neal” James Mills, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, just one day shy of his 93rd birthday. Born, raised, and a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, Neal’s only time away from home was spent serving his country aboard the USS Cogswell (DD-651) during the Korean War. His service in the Navy instilled in him a strong work ethic and a dedication to helping others—values he carried throughout his life. After his military service, Neal became Director of maintenance at Saint Peter in Chains Cathedral, a position he faithfully held for over 30 years. His work went beyond maintaining a building—he maintained the spirit of those who entered, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a moment of kindness. Neal was deeply devoted to serving the underprivileged and those in need. He spent countless hours visiting hospitals, offering prayer and communion, and comforting people in their final moments.
